Power Core FAQs

What is Power Core?

Power Core is a student led ministry focused on outreach, witnessing and prayer for its peers, school and community.

How was it organized?

After two years of prayer for such a ministry, a student approached Jon and Jenny about reaching out to students to promote unity, healing and a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. The student and teacher (Jon) approached the principal about offering a free lunch provided by the ministry in a neutral location on campus. Kids from local youth groups pitched in to supply the food and Jenny prepared it. A non-denominational gospel message was prepared for those who attended. Power Lunch was the result.

What is Power Lunch?

Inspired by Edge TV, Power Core organizes the lunch, presents a skit and message, promotes Christian events like See You at the Pole, concerts, etc., allows for student testimony and prays for the needs of these students. Those who attend are encouraged to attend one of the local youth groups to tie into a group that will further meet their needs.

How is it funded?

Local support from the community supplies the meat. The E-Free church has set aside a food budget that covers some items. Some youth groups contribute to cover receipts for food provided, and Power Core members bring a single item like chips, pickles, lettuce, etc. to provide for the rest of the lunch. This is part of their personal commitment to reach out to their peers.

Does Power Core participate in other activities?

Power Core prays for specific needs of the student body, takes an active role in ministering to their peers during student tragedies, and reaches out to middle school students during a week-long summer extravaganza, encouraging them to continue breaking down denominational barriers to strengthen the body of Christ in their schools.
