John 3:7
Nicodemus asked - How can a man be born again?
The answer is that when a person is finally tired of doing things and living life out of his own human strength, when life
is nothing but a long line of humiliating failures or empty unsatisfying successes, when he or she is at the end of his or
her rope and finally has no desire to hold on, but instead, is ready to release one's self to the strength of an all powerful
God, he/she is ready to die to self and accept the new life that comes from becoming a child of God, a brother or sister in
Christ and one led by the Holy Spirit.
In our culture death is something to be avoided;
in Christ, in a spiritual sense, it is something to be embraced. We have been like that old movie "Weekend at Bernie's"...we
prop up our dead self and drag around a lifeless spirit trying to fix our situation and fix ourselves. But, there is no curing
the cancer that infects our actions, words, thinking - our relationships, work and play. We can't cut out the cancer - we
can just put to death the old self. And choose to live "in Christ."
Jesus said "whoever hears My word and believes
in Him who sent Me shall not come into judgement, but has passed from death to life." John 5:24
Today as you face your challenges, let go of the
rope you have been using to hold onto control of your life and release your life to Jesus Christ. Allow the power of the Holy
Spirit to give you vision, insight and discernment.
